Apple released iOS 5 to the public today. The new iOS 5 version has over 200 new features. [See here for the details]
The following Apple devices are supported if you want to run iOS 5:

- iPhone 4 GSM/CDMA
- iPad 2 CDMA / GSM / Wifi
- iPad 1
- iPod Touch 4G / 3G
Users can upgrade their Apple devices to iOS 5 by simply plugging the device to the computer and via iTunes realtime online update. But if you’re having problems while updating to iOS 5 using iTunes online update, then here are the direct download links to the iOS 5 firmware file, which is an IPSW file.

To update using this file, click ‘Restore’ button in iTunes while holding Shift (Windows) key or Option (Mac) key.
